The 2008 ZX-10R was an all-new design, with a more angular front end and a single side exhaust in place of the earlier twin underseat pipes. It moved to a fuel-injected engine with Ram Air capability, rated at 188 hp, and to a DLC-coated 43 mm inverted fork on a backbone frame. It was the start of the redesigned ZX-10R line.
